Dilaudid 8mg

This drug is used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Hydromorphone belongs to a class of drugs known as opioid analgesics. It works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain.

hydromorphone oral liquid and tablets are used to relieve pain. The hydromorphone extended release capsules and extended release tablets are used to relieve pain in opioid tolerant patients severe enough to have pain relief 24 hours a day for a long period of time.

Hydromorphone extended-release capsules and extended-release tablets should not be used if you only need pain relievers for a short time, such as when you are recovering from surgery. Do not use this medicine to relieve minor pain. This medicine should not be used to treat pain that you have only occasionally or “as needed”.

hydromorphone belongs to a group of medicines called narcotic analgesics (painkillers). It acts on the central nervous system (CNS) to relieve pain.

When a narcotic is used for a long time, it can become addictive and cause mental or physical dependence. However, people who have persistent pain should not let fear of dependence stop them from using narcotics to relieve their pain. Mental dependence (addiction) is unlikely to occur when narcotics are used for this purpose. Physical dependence can lead to withdrawal symptoms if treatment is stopped suddenly. However, severe withdrawal symptoms can usually be avoided by gradually reducing the dose over a period of time before stopping treatment completely.
